Apple’s latest operating system can automatically back up all your files every hour.
Another way to go is a ‘Time Capsule’. This is an awesome wireless router that has a hard drive built in. Anyone on your network, both wired and wireless can back up, again hourly.
Using Apple’s ‘Time Machine’ software, you can even restore a file that you may have deleted a week ago.
Having a Time Capsule away from your prized possessions can ensure if anything happens to your Mac, you’re completely covered.

Three and a half years ago, I nearly lost everything - Car, Computer, iPod , dignity and good will toward my fellow man.
Now my car was insured, so when I ran up the back of another car on Burke Rd in Camberwell it wasn’t such a painful incident. The experience even got me a morning off work.
Later that same year our house was broken into and the first thing that was grabbed was my iMac. They are shiny aren’t they. A very attractive unit. Part of the reason we all love Macs so much. Apparently the crooks that got into our house thought so as well.

In addition to theft, I can’t tell you how many times we’ve seen grown men cry when they hear from a tech that their files are gone.
